Advent Day of Reflection-Connecting Through Sound & Vibration
Advent Day of Reflection: Connecting Through Sound & Vibration
Saturday, December 9, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Facilitator: Kelly Lemens & Maria Giordano
Advent is a season when Christian’s prepare for the coming of the Messiah, Jesus the Christ. Intentional times of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving open our hearts and spirits to God’s presence and action in our lives.
Music and vibration are one of the most ancient and oldest practices used to connect us more deeply with the Holy, in both and non-Christian traditions. Join us as we explore the power of sound and vibration through three prayer practices:
Chanting (from the Christian tradition)
Drumming (from Native American traditions)
Singing bowl meditation (from non-Christian traditions)
Structured largely as a silent retreat, the day will include a hands-on meditation, silent reflection time as well as some small group sharing.
