CIEE Opportunities
Here are a few of the amazing students still waiting for their loving host family:
Luiza – 16 - Brazil – female (requesting Wisconsin)
"Dear host family, My family is a special part of my life. We are a family of four: me, my older sister, my parents, and our beautiful little dog named Pipoca. I love to laugh, and people often describe me as friendly and trustworthy. I enjoy dancing, reading, and spending time with friends. During my program, I’d love to join a dance club and volunteer with children or those in need, as I care about helping others. I have a dog at home and adore pets, so I’m comfortable around any pets you may have. I’m excited to cook traditional Brazilian dishes for my host family and participate in American traditions like Independence Day, and Thanksgiving."
Karn – 15 – Thailand – female
“I am Karn or Gantima. I am an enthusiastic and vibrant person with a cheerful and easygoing nature, I find it easy to build meaningful relationships with everyone I meet. My hobbies include drawing, singing, playing the guitar, and baking. I have performed singing on stage twice, it was a great experience. As for baking, I’ve tried making cookies before, but they didn’t taste good. However, I kept trying and eventually made them taste much better. I also enjoy adventurous activities such as riding a jet ski and ziplining. When it comes to sports, I love running, playing basketball, and playing badminton. Being part of a team and playing sports with friends makes me feel happy and brings us closer together through teamwork and fun conversations. I also have a passion for traveling and exploring new places, which keeps my life exciting and never monotonous. Traveling is not just about visiting new places but also about learning about different cultures. These experiences help me grow and gain a diverse outlook on life. One of my favorite things is to keep learning new things, whether it’s trying activities I’ve never done before or reading books and researching to expand my knowledge. Another passion of mine is watching movies, especially romantic ones. I also enjoy discussing and sharing thoughts inspired by films, as it’s a great way to connect with people similar interests.”
Mauricio – 16 – Mexico - male
"Dear host family, Here in my city I practice two sports, soccer and boxing but I am open to learn and practice any new sport that the school offers me. I quite like animals, I have two cats and before cats I had a dog. My relationship with my family is quite good, because I trust my parents and my two brothers. We have lunch together every day and I usually go fishing with my dad and some friends. I really want to meet my host family, get along with them, and do many activities together, if my family likes to practice their religion a lot, I wouldn't mind accompanying them to practice their religion. Thanks for all, see you soon!"
Nawaphol – 17 – Thailand - male
"Dear host family, I have a younger & older sister. I have decided to pursue a career as an entrepreneur and businessman. From a young age, I’ve been fascinated by how business operate and the way successful companies create value. My goal is to start my own business in the tech industry, focusing on innovative solutions that address real-world problems. I have been studying Chinese for three years and would love to volunteer with cancer patients. I enjoy playing badminton, building models, and singing. I would like to join a choir, drama and drawing club. I also love music and play the piano to unwind. I’m really excited about the opportunity to become part of a new family, share my culture, and create lasting memories together!"
Armin – 16 -Germany – male (grant scholarship student)
"Dear host family, My name is Armin and I live in the west of Germany. Once a year, on Fathers Day, I go on a camping trip with my dad, siblings, and some childhood friends. My mom is great at cooking and baking and has already taught me a lot. I also like going to the movies or theme parks with my 12 years old sister. When my parents are not at home, I often take care of or play with my little brother, who is 6 years old. In my free time, I enjoy doing volunteer work, for example help to lead groups for children. I also like to bake or cook different dishes for my family. I am also really interested in learning about different cultures and enjoy to have new experiences and making new friends in the US. While I am on my exchange I would like to join different kind of clubs or sport teams. (basketball or hockey) I could also imagine to do volunteer work with children like I do in Germany. I am very exited to take part in your family activities and traditions, and I am happy to help out with everything I can.”
